Working with students from Mountjoy School, who support young people with additional needs, the project invited participants to explore the museum’s collections and reimagine them through storytelling and creative writing. The result was a day filled with imagination, laughter, and fresh perspectives on local history.
Filming this project in Bridport, Dorset, was a genuine pleasure. I loved capturing the joy and enthusiasm on the young people’s faces as they brought their stories to life — turning artefacts into characters and history into something playful and personal. Their creativity transformed the museum into a space of discovery, expression, and connection.
This short documentary celebrates the energy of young storytellers, the power of creative writing, and the value of community arts projects that help young people share their voices. It also highlights the brilliant work of The Bank of Dreams & Nightmares and their commitment to inspiring creativity across West Dorset.
